Counselling in Littlehampton, West Sussex and Online

Offering a creative and compassionate space to explore the inner terrain of your experiences - the thoughts, emotions, and echoes that shape who you are.

Hi, I’m Liz, and I run Selfscape Counselling.

I offer a creative and compassionate space to explore the inner terrain of your experiences — the thoughts, emotions, and echoes that shape who you are.

As a humanistic counsellor, I support clients with a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity exploration, life transitions, relationships, body image, eating challenges, self-harm, stress, trauma, and bereavement. With empathy, understanding, and evidence-based practice, I help you uncover hidden layers of awareness, empowering you to navigate your journey towards self-discovery and healing.

My approach is grounded in the belief that we all hold an inner wisdom and the capacity for growth. Together, we can explore your experiences with curiosity and creativity, using imagery, symbols, and metaphor to bring what’s beneath the surface into awareness. I often invite clients to work creatively — through writing, drawing, or symbolic expression - to help unearth the subconscious and deepen understanding of self.

Supporting young people aged 11+

I offer compassionate, age-appropriate support for young people aged 11 and over, with a particular focus on those navigating adolescence and early adulthood. I provide a safe, supportive space to explore identity, relationships, emotions, and challenges. I help young people feel heard, understood, and empowered as they grow.

Supporting weight related issues

I offer gentle, compassionate therapeutic support for those navigating weight-related challenges, body image, emotional eating or identity changes following weight loss. I understand how complex and personal this journey can be and I provide a safe, non-judgemental space to explore emotional, psychological, and relational aspects of your experiences. Together, we work on reconnection beyond the surface.

Every client’s story is unique, and therapy is a collaborative process. I offer a gentle, empathic presence where you can explore your experiences safely, at your own pace.. Whether through conversation, reflection, or creative expression, we’ll work together to help you gain insight, clarity, and a deeper sense of self-acceptance.

My role is to walk alongside you, offering support, curiosity, and compassion as you make sense of your own path.

My location

I offer in person counselling sessions from my practice based at Arcade Business Centre, The Loft, 2A Arcade Road, Littlehampton, West Sussex, BN17 5AR.

Online therapy sessions are also available via Google Meet, for those who do not wish to travel or are located further afield.

Sessions and Fees

I offer a free initial 15 minute telephone or online introduction.

£60 per session. Sessions are weekly and last 50 minutes.

Morning, Daytime and Evening sessions offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

I have some concessionary sessions available at a reduced fee. You are welcome to arrange a free 15-minute consultation — a gentle space to talk things through and ask any questions. This can take place over the phone or in my therapy room, whichever feels most comfortable. There’s no obligation to continue — simply a chance to see if it feels right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if counselling is right for me?

You don’t need to be in crisis or have a clear reason to come to counselling. Many people come because something doesn’t feel right, feels stuck, or they want space to reflect and understand themselves better. We can explore together whether counselling feels supportive for you.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance to meet, talk about what’s bringing you to counselling, and get a sense of how it feels to work together. There’s no pressure to share everything at once, we go at your pace.

Do I need to know what I want to talk about?

No. It’s very common not to know where to start. Therapy can help you gently explore what’s going on, even if things feel unclear or hard to put into words.

What if I get emotional or don’t know what to say?

That’s okay. There’s no right way to be in therapy. Emotions, pauses, and uncertainty are all welcome, and we can take things slowly and gently.

How long does counselling last?

That depends on you. Some people come for a short period to explore a specific issue, others choose longer-term counselling. We can review this together as we go.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes. Counselling is confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions (which I’ll explain clearly in the first session). Your privacy and trust are taken seriously.

What if I’m not sure you are the right therapist for me?

It’s important that therapy feels like a good fit. The first session is a space to explore that. If it doesn’t feel right, that’s okay. I can support you in thinking about other options.

Can therapy help if I feel numb or disconnected?

Yes. Many people come to counselling feeling disconnected, stuck, or unsure of what they’re feeling. Therapy can help gently explore this at your pace.

Do I have to talk about things I’m not ready to share?

No. You are always in control of what you share and when. Therapy respects your boundaries.

Do I need to be creative to work creatively in therapy?

No. You don’t need any artistic ability, confidence, or experience. Creative work in therapy isn’t about being good at art — it’s about exploring feelings and experiences in ways that feel meaningful to you.

Will I be expected to draw or do creative exercises?

No. Creative approaches are always optional and never forced. Talking remains central to therapy, and we only use creative or symbolic ways of working if they feel helpful and comfortable for you.

Why might creative or symbolic work help when talking feels hard?

Sometimes feelings are difficult to explain in words. Creative and symbolic approaches can offer another way of exploring what’s going on — helping to access emotions, make sense of experiences, or notice things that feel stuck or unclear.

Can we just talk if that’s what I prefer?

Absolutely. Many clients choose to work through talking alone. Therapy is shaped around you, and we work in ways that feel right for your needs.
